Describing our Champion

Yesterday we had the task of creating an A to Z of superlatives describing God. I have put the list from each of the groups into the Wordle software and below is the result remember the bigger the word the more people used it in their list. I leave you to comment on the outcome - does it surprise you, is it what you would expect.

If you would like a print out of this click on wordle above then gallery and type ashleyalive into the search then click the Who is God link and it will bring up the wordle that you can then print.

We also discussed personal bests so any thoughts on that please comment.

I am a bit intrigued by the idea of personal best because it is so hard to pin down. If I had to say what was the thing that I had done that had been most meaningful to anyone all week, I wouldn't be able to say, and in all probability it would not be the things I thought had been useful.

Sue Monk Kidd tells in one of her books of an exercise she did at a conference, where the attendees were invited to take a piece of paper and tear in in such a way to produce something that represents their life. When they had all produced their piece of artwork and had them pinned up on a display board to be admired, someone went round with a bowl and collected all their discarded fragments and put them on the altar. They realised that the point of the exercise was to understand that those bits that we want to discard of ourselves have potential to be used by God and are part of the 'whole' of us that God loves. So our personal best might come from some part of us that we disregard and it is a good thing to have a God who can see a bigger picture; not to mention someone with a bowl to help us gather up and put those things on the altar!
