Intercession

A friend was describing a picture that she had stuck in her head and we decided to try and get it on paper. Over coffee and a series of emails we came up with the following digital collage. It is called Intercession. It means what it does to her, but I think there could be lots of stories it describes.

My first impression was that the red creatures were very frightening, It reminded me of the verse "Gods love casts out all fear".

For me, the important thing is that the woman is calling on God who brings light into situations. There is a lot of horror and strange stuff that we don't understand, but the woman is turned to God and her prayers are for someone who is, at that time unable to ask for help themselves.

Whether the horrors of the pit, belong to the woman or to the person being prayed for, or life generally is not obvious, but something in the act of bringing a need before God, shines a light into a dark space.
